Zealous for Monday : How to Be Unrecognizable

If you are a normal person who just wants to feel a bit better about their health or how they fit into a pair of jeans, the truth is, you don’t have to do all the things all the time all the days... you just have to TRY to make small changes... and those small changes have a way of building on each other to create big changes that last over the course of time. However, that’s not the message that you’ll find on a lot of self-help or self-improvement memes, blogs, or sites...

What’s interesting is that, even in the thread, people were talking about how unrealistic these expectations were, but they were still getting it backward:

Look at all the ‘Likes” on this comment. It’s a little concerning how many people still think living a healthier life has to be all or nothing . . . especially when just getting started on a “resolution.” No wonder so many people give up or never try; this looks too hard, even to me.

Listen, I’m not saying that any of these are wrong or bad ideas. Many of them are great goals, in and of themselves. Still, the moment you add an all or nothing mentality (“Cut out”), or you HAVE to hit X,Y,Z to obtain an objective, or “just do this, then you’ll see results” promise... the red flags for a diet, trend, fad, (or real method - but not fostered in an achievable way) should be waving for you. The end result will likely not be achievable or sustainable.

Instead, lets use words like: Moderate, Progress, Develop, Tweak, Boost, Build-On, Concentrate, Small Steps, Choose, Focus, Improve, Beneficial, Gain, Learn, Adapt, Expand

We all need people to hold us accountable when we aren’t trying hard enough:

- Hi, that’s me :)

We also need people to tell us it’s okay to not be perfect; you will still get somewhere:

Hopefully, that’s me, again. :)
